The Miami Heat are running it back with defense-first guard Davion Mitchell, who has agreed to a two-year, $24 million fully guaranteed contract to remain in South Beach, per ESPN.

Mitchell was a quiet but crucial piece in the Heat’s backcourt last season, averaging 10.3 points and 5.3 assists in 30 games. He also shot a career-best 40% from three, showing major offensive growth while keeping his signature defense intact.

According to ESPN Research, Mitchell ranked top-5 in field-goal percentage allowed as a contesting defender among players who contested at least 500 shots — an elite stat that proves his impact on that side of the ball.

Heat officials and Mitchell’s agent, Josh Beauregard-Bell of Wasserman, finalized the deal as Miami continues to build around toughness, versatility, and shooting.

It’s a big vote of confidence in Mitchell’s development — and another step in the Heat’s offseason strategy to stay competitive in the East.
