The Charlotte Hornets are continuing to reshape their roster — this time by acquiring Serbian guard Vasilije Micić from the Phoenix Suns as part of the broader deal involving center Mark Williams.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Micić’s $8.1 million team option will be exercised by Phoenix before completing the trade, making the veteran playmaker part of Charlotte’s incoming package.
Micić, a EuroLeague MVP and two-time champion, was previously acquired by the Suns from the Thunder in the Jusuf Nurkić trade earlier this year. Despite limited minutes in the NBA so far, his court vision, pick-and-roll mastery, and poise give Charlotte a solid veteran presence at guard — and potentially an ideal mentor for younger talents like LaMelo Ball and Tre Mann.
The full trade now reads:
- Phoenix gets: Mark Williams (center)
- Charlotte gets: No. 29 pick in the 2025 draft, 2029 first-round pick (least favorable of CLE/UTA/MIN), and Vasilije Micić.
For the Hornets, it’s a balance of future flexibility and present utility. And for Micić, it’s a new opportunity in a backcourt that could use his savvy.
