In a tough moment during Detroit’s 105-96 victory over the Orlando Magic, Pistons guard Jaden Ivey appeared to sustain a significant injury to his lower left leg late in the fourth quarter.
The incident occurred when Orlando’s Cole Anthony lost his footing while pursuing a loose ball. Anthony’s momentum carried him into Ivey’s planted leg, causing the young guard to fall to the floor in visible pain. Medical staff immediately rushed to Ivey’s side as he clutched his shin, and towels were used to shield the crowd from the severity of the injury.
After a prolonged stoppage, Ivey was stretchered off the court, his injury concealed by a towel. The emotional moment saw players from both teams come together to support both Ivey and Anthony, who was visibly distraught.
Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff commended his team’s resilience and dedication after the game, saying, “There’s no better person or teammate than J.I. The guys really care about him, and they didn’t want to let him down.”
Ivey, who had been Detroit’s leading scorer with 22 points, is a key player for the Pistons, and the entire basketball community will be hoping for a swift recovery.
