In another surprise summer move, the Utah Jazz are trading Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for veteran center Jusuf Nurkić, per ESPN.
This deal marks a clear shift in direction for both franchises. The Hornets get a scoring guard in Sexton who can energize their backcourt alongside LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. Sexton averaged 18.7 points last season and brings relentless energy and rim pressure.
For Utah, Nurkić provides a proven interior presence with playoff experience. While he’s not the long-term answer at center, his physicality and leadership could help stabilize a young Jazz roster that now boasts solid depth at every position.
The Jazz continue to shuffle their pieces, and the Hornets seem committed to speeding up their rebuild with proven talent.
