The 2024 Panini Rising Stars is an event that showcases the best young talents in the NBA. This year, San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan has been selected to replace injured Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe on Team Jalen. The event will be held on Friday, February 16th at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will be broadcast live at 9 p.m. ET on TNT and ESPN Radio in the United States.
Sochan will be participating in the Panini Rising Stars for the second consecutive year. In his previous appearance, he was a rookie in the NBA. In his second season, Sochan is averaging 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, while playing for an average of 29.5 minutes per game. He has also made 50 starts and appeared in each of San Antonio’s 51 games. In three of his last seven games, Sochan has recorded a double-double, including a 31 point and 14 rebound performance against the Trail Blazers on January 26th.
Unfortunately, Sharpe, a second-year NBA player, will not be able to participate in the Panini Rising Stars due to a core muscle injury that requires corrective surgery. Sharpe was voted into the Rising Stars player pool by NBA assistant coaches and was selected in the Rising Stars Draft by former 13-year NBA veteran Jalen Rose, the honorary head coach for Team Jalen.
The 2024 Panini Rising Stars will feature select NBA rookies and sophomores, along with NBA G League players. They will compete in a four-team mini-tournament with three games, each played to a Final Target Score.
