Kawhi Leonard is an all-around forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, who was unfortunately unable to play in the team’s series-opening win against the Dallas Mavericks. This was due to inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee. Tyronn Lue, the Clippers’ coach, confirmed that Leonard would not be playing just two hours before the start of the game.
Although Leonard has been able to do some shooting in the last couple of days, he has yet to participate in contact practices. Coach Lue confirmed that Leonard is making progress and they are taking it day-by-day.
Before his injury, Leonard had played a total of 68 games during the season, which is the most he has played as a Clipper. He was able to average 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, making him a valuable asset to the team.
Despite not having Leonard on the court, the Clippers were still able to defeat the Mavericks, who had MVP candidate Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The Clippers were able to lead by as many as 29 points at one point in the game. James Harden and Paul George combined for 50 points, while Ivica Zubac added 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Clippers.
