LeBron James continues to bend time, history, and expectations.
On Wednesday night in a 112-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and minutes leader added another all-time milestone to his résumé. By stepping onto the court, James played in his 1,561st regular-season game, officially passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for second-most games played in NBA history.
Only Robert Parish (1,611) has more — and LeBron is now just 51 games away from claiming the No. 1 spot.
👴🏽 Longevity Like We’ve Never Seen
At 40 years old, LeBron isn’t just hanging on — he’s still hooping at an elite level in Year 22. This was his 418th game in a Lakers uniform, adding to the 849 he played for Cleveland and 294 in Miami. It’s rare for a player to last this long, but unprecedented to stay this dominant while doing it.
Even crazier? He’s played at least 55 games in each of the last four seasons, including 71 games last season and 69 so far this year. That means passing Parish as No. 1 next season is extremely realistic if LeBron runs it back for Year 23 — and all signs point to him doing just that.
📈 More Records Coming
On top of chasing the games played crown, LeBron is also closing in on 6th place all-time in 3-pointers made. With just 3 more threes, he’ll leap Reggie Miller (2,560) — a surreal stat for a guy who was once considered “not a shooter.”
The Lakers, who have already clinched a playoff berth, might rest LeBron to close the regular season — but if not, we could see him knock down a couple more milestones before the postseason begins.
🐐 Status Locked
At this point, it feels like every game LeBron plays sets some sort of record. But what separates him from almost everyone in NBA history isn’t just the stats — it’s the longevity, adaptability, and consistency.
From a teenage phenom in Cleveland to a Finals MVP in Miami to a champion and all-time great in L.A., LeBron’s career isn’t just long — it’s legendary.
He’s no longer chasing history. He is history.
