The Orlando Magic are playing the long game — and they just made another smart chess move on Day 2 of the 2025 NBA Draft.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Boston Celtics are trading the No. 32 overall pick to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Nos. 46 and 57, a 2026 second-round pick (the most favorable of Detroit, Milwaukee, or Orlando), and a 2027 second-round pick (the more favorable of Orlando or Boston).
That’s four picks for one — and a deal that underlines Orlando’s growing control of the draft board over the next several years.
Even after this move, the Magic still hold four future first-round picks and nine second-rounders through 2032. This gives them the flexibility to keep building around their young core — Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and newly acquired Desmond Bane — or to package picks for win-now talent as needed.
Meanwhile, Boston continues its offseason maneuvering. Having already dealt Jrue Holiday and made several roster adjustments, the Celtics trim down their pick volume and grab some future draft capital in the process — all while getting off the No. 32 slot, likely to open room for other moves.
Both teams come out ahead, but the Magic now have a stronger grip on the NBA’s future, stockpiling assets like a contender in the making.
Orlando isn’t just building a team — they’re building an empire.
