The New Orleans Pelicans are navigating a challenging stretch, with key updates impacting their roster ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Herb Jones Injury Update
Forward Herb Jones is sidelined once again after sustaining a shoulder injury during Wednesday’s loss to Portland. Jones, who previously missed 18 games this season with a similar issue, underwent an MRI on Thursday. He has played in 20 of New Orleans’ 38 games, contributing averages of 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Known for his defensive prowess, Jones was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team last season.

Zion Williamson Suspended for One Game
The Pelicans also announced a one-game suspension for forward Zion Williamson due to a violation of team policies. Executive Vice President David Griffin stated, “This one-game suspension is a result of failing to meet our team standards. Zion has taken accountability and reaffirmed his commitment to the team.”

Williamson, who is returning from injury rehab, issued a public apology, saying, “I take full responsibility for this suspension… I have apologized to Mrs. Benson, my teammates, and the fans. I can and will be better.”

Williamson will miss tonight’s game but is expected to rejoin the team tomorrow.

Upcoming Road Trip
The Pelicans are embarking on a three-game road trip, starting in Philadelphia, followed by stops in Boston on Sunday and Chicago on Tuesday. With Jones out and Williamson suspended for one game, New Orleans faces an uphill battle in maintaining their competitive edge in the tough Western Conference.

Stay tuned for updates as the Pelicans continue their road trip.
