In a recent development, the Phoenix Suns have acquired Royce O’Neale, a veteran 3-and-D player, in a three-team trade with Memphis and Brooklyn. As part of the deal, the Suns will also receive David Roddy, a 6-foot-4 forward in his second NBA season.

The Grizzlies, on the other hand, will receive a 2026 first-round pick swap along with Chimezie Metu and Yuta Watanabe, both via Suns. The Nets, in turn, receive Keita Bates-Diop and Jordan Goodwin via Suns, draft rights to Vanja Marinkovic via Grizzlies, and three future second-round picks.

With the addition of O’Neale, the Suns add a solid wing defender to their bench. The seven-year NBA veteran is averaging 7.4 points and 4.5 rebounds over 49 games this season and has a career 3-point shooting average of 38.1%. The Suns will also benefit from the addition of Roddy, who has been averaging 8.4 ppg and 4.2 rpg in 48 games with Memphis this season.

The Grizzlies, in return, will bring back Watanabe, a 6-foot-9 forward who started his career with Memphis. Watanabe is averaging 3.6 ppg and shooting 32% on 3-pointers after hitting a career-best 44.4% of his 3-pointers last season.

It’s worth noting that the Nets have also requested waivers on forward Thaddeus Young, who was acquired earlier in the day alongside Dennis Schroder.
