In the Western Conference, Wembanyama proved himself to be an unstoppable force throughout the month of February, maintaining his impressive form from January. Over the course of 12 games, he managed to achieve an astounding 21.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 3.9 blocks per game for the Spurs. He has established himself as the leader in the NBA for blocked shots per game, and is one of only five players in the league currently averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in the 2023-24 season. These players include Giannis, Davis, Embiid, Jokic, and Sabonis.
What’s more, Wembanyama has been setting the bar high amongst rookies this season, leading in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals. He’s tied for 4th place in 3-pointers made with Jordan Hawkins at 105, 6th in assists, and is currently the favourite to win the coveted Rookie of the Year award.
Over in the Eastern Conference, Charlotte’s young star player has been making a name for himself as he continues to rise through the ranks. In February, he put up some impressive numbers, achieving 20.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, and 1.8 steals per game, all over the course of 13 games. Despite the Hornets only winning 5 out of their 13 games, this player’s scoring average has been on the rise for the past four months.
He was able to secure the No. 2 spot in total steals (23) among rookies for the month of February, with only Wembanyama (24) ahead of him. Amongst rookies, he leads in 3-pointers and comes in at 3rd place for points, 8th for assists, 9th for rebounds, and 7th for blocks. This player has been a vital addition to the Hornets and has played a significant role in their improved performance from last year.
