The Golden State Warriors are taking a cautious approach with Stephen Curry’s recovery, keeping him sidelined for a second straight game in Tuesday’s 112-86 loss to the Miami Heat.

Curry, dealing with a pelvic contusion, was listed as questionable leading up to the game. He went through a workout on Monday and looked solid, but one movement at the end of the session didn’t feel right, leading to the decision to sit him out.

“He just wasn’t quite there, and we just can’t risk it,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

The good news? Curry is expected to return Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The two-time MVP suffered the injury last Thursday against Toronto and missed Saturday’s loss to Atlanta. With Golden State’s schedule providing two days off both before and after the Miami game, the team sees this stretch as a chance for Curry to heal fully.

“That’ll be a full week off,” Kerr said. “That can really take care of the injury and regenerate, recharge his batteries. I think it’s a good plan.”

Curry, 37, is averaging 24.2 points and six assists this season while shooting 39.4% from deep. The Warriors will be eager to have him back as they push toward the playoffs.
