The reigning NBA champions are wasting no time building out their rotation for the future.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are signing guard Ajay Mitchell to a three-year, $9 million deal, per Shams Charania. The team declined his 2025–26 team option to restructure a longer commitment — a sign they vawhat Mitchell brings.
Mitchell, the 38th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, appeared in limited minutes but made his presence felt, averaging 6.5 points in 17 minutes per game for OKC. He showed flashes of maturity and scoring touch, and this new deal rewards that promise while locking in cost-effective depth at the guard spot.
After recently retaining Jaylin Williams as well, the Thunder are clearly focused on continuity and development as they look to defend their title with a deep, reliable bench.
