In a recent trade deal, the Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired veteran guard Monte Morris from the Detroit Pistons. In exchange, the Pistons will receive Troy Brown Jr., Shake Milton, and a 2030 second-round pick. With this trade, Morris will join the Timberwolves after playing six games with the Pistons.
Morris is expected to give the Timberwolves an added scoring threat off the bench as they aim to maintain their position in the top four of the Western Conference standings. He has previously played for Denver, where he participated in 48 playoff games, before joining Washington and Detroit. This season, Morris has only played six games for the Pistons due to a quadriceps injury.
Throughout his career, Morris has maintained an average of 10.4 points and 4.0 assists, with an impressive shooting percentage of 47.9% from the field and 38.9% from 3. The Timberwolves, who currently rank first in the NBA for defense but 19th for offense, are hopeful that Morris will help to improve their offensive output.
As for the Pistons, they receive a 2030 second-round pick and two veteran guards in Milton and Brown Jr. who can help guide Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson and the young Pistons. The team’s current record stands at 6-43.
