The Miami Heat will begin the 2025-26 NBA season without one of their most important players, Tyler Herro.
According to ESPN and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, All-Star guard Tyler Herro has undergone surgery on his left foot following an ankle injury suffered during an offseason workout. The procedure is expected to sideline him for at least eight weeks, forcing Miami to adjust its backcourt rotation right out of the gate.
Herro, who has been a crucial piece of Miami’s offense since being drafted in 2019, averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game last season. His shot creation and perimeter scoring remain vital to a Heat team looking to bounce back after a rollercoaster 2024-25 campaign.

With Herro unavailable, the Heat will likely lean more heavily on Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins to carry the scoring load. Younger guards like Jaquez Jr. and Kel’el Ware could also see expanded opportunities early in the year.
The Heat have battled injury setbacks in recent seasons, and losing Herro at the start of the year adds yet another hurdle. Still, if Miami can hold steady until his return, Herro’s presence could provide a major boost midseason — just in time for a playoff push.

For a team built on resilience and next-man-up mentality, the opening stretch of the season just got a whole lot tougher.
