In response to winning the award, Maxey said, “It feels great. Somebody like myself, who prides myself on putting in a lot of work and outworking people and finding ways to get 1% better every single time I step in the gym, it feels good for that to come to light, honestly.”
Maxey received 319 points in the voting, while Chicago’s Coby White received 305 points, and Alpehn Sengun finished third with 92 points. White’s averages of 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game were all career highs, while Sengun’s averages of 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in 32.5 minutes per game were all career highs for him.
It is an impressive achievement for Maxey to win the Most Improved Player of the Year award, and it is a testament to his hard work and dedication to improving his game.
