Devin Vassell, the talented shooting guard of the San Antonio Spurs, underwent an MRI on Monday morning after playing in Sunday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors. The results of the scan revealed that he had a strain reaction to the third metatarsal head in his right foot, which will require him to sit out the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
On the other hand, Jeremy Sochan, who was forced to leave Friday night’s game against the New York Knicks at halftime due to an injury, has been diagnosed with a left ankle impingement. After consulting with outside experts, the Spurs medical team has concluded that arthroscopic surgery is the best course of action to correct the damage.
Without Vassell, the Spurs will be without their starting shooting guard, who has been averaging an impressive 19.5 points per game, 4.1 assists per game, and 3.8 rebounds per game in 68 played games this season. As for Sochan, who has been averaging a solid 11.6 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 0.8 steals per game, and 0.5 blocks per game in 74 games, and has started in 73 games, the team will be without a starting power forward.
The Spurs organization will provide updates on their progress as they become available, and fans will undoubtedly be eager to see both players healthy and back on the court for the next season.
