Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

SGA came back from a nine-game absence due to an abdominal strain on February 27, and OKC has been unstoppable, going 5–0 in his first games back and becoming the first team to reach 50 wins this season. He has extended his incredible streak to 125 straight games with 20+ points, one shy of Wilt Chamberlain’s record, and broken the record for consecutive 20+ point road games at 59+. The stats always scream “consistent.” There really is no game where he has a “bad” performance. He always finds a way to get 30 points or still create opportunities for his teammates to make himself look like the MVP of the game.

He’s averaging 31.6 PPG, which is second in the NBA, along with 4.4 RPG and 6.4 APG. He’s also shooting at an elite level: 54.9–55.1% from the field and 38.1% from three. Despite carrying such an efficient offensive load, he still gets into a defensive stance and produces on the other end of the court. His defensive rating this season is 108.4, which is above average for a superstar, especially in today’s game, where many stars simply don’t have the energy to defend consistently.

OKC exploded to a 24–1 start early in the season, setting franchise records even during stretches without Jalen Williams. SGA was the clear engine. The midseason dip was tough to watch without Shai, but it gave role players like Isaiah Joe, Jaylin Williams, Aaron Wiggins, and Cason Wallace opportunities to step up with big minutes, building confidence and depth. However, OKC’s schedule was tough, and they weren’t very successful without their superstar. When SGA is on the court, he creates more opportunities for his teammates, and they create more for him. The significance of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being on the floor is huge. If he stays healthy, OKC will most likely win another one this season.
