The Milwaukee Bucks are keeping their front office powerhouse in place.
According to reports from Shams Charania, the Bucks and general manager Jon Horst have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, locking in one of the league’s top executives just before his current contract was set to expire. Horst, who took over as GM in 2017, has played a pivotal role in Milwaukee’s consistent success over the past eight seasons.
During Horst’s tenure, the Bucks have made the playoffs every single year, posting an incredible .647 win percentage — the second-best in the entire NBA during that span, according to ESPN Research. Under his leadership, the Bucks built a championship core around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, won the 2021 NBA title, and consistently finished among the league’s elite in both regular season and playoff performance.
At just 42 years old, Horst’s rise has been impressive. He began in basketball operations roles with both the Pistons and Bucks before ascending to the top job. In 2019, he was named NBA Executive of the Year, a nod to his savvy roster construction and long-term vision.
The extension signals the Bucks’ commitment to front office continuity as they aim to maximize their championship window with Giannis and continue competing at the highest level. With a strong track record, a title under his belt, and one of the most talented rosters in basketball, Jon Horst will now have the time and trust to keep the Bucks in title contention for years to come.
