The Memphis Grizzlies were dealt a major scare Tuesday night during their NBA Play-In matchup against the Golden State Warriors, as star guard Ja Morant rolled his right ankle midway through the third quarter.
After going up for a shot, Morant came down awkwardly and immediately collapsed in pain, leaving fans and teammates holding their breath. While Ja gritted through the pain to shoot his free throw — allowing him to remain eligible to return — he was clearly struggling and limped to the bench right after.
Though Morant made a brief return in the fourth quarter, he was noticeably limping, and his movement looked far from 100%.
Now, the big question: Will Ja Morant be ready for the next Play-In game?
With a must-win matchup looming against either the Dallas Mavericks or Sacramento Kings, Morant’s availability is in serious doubt. Given the Grizzlies’ injury history this season and how much Morant means to their offense, this could dramatically shift the team’s Play-In chances — and possibly cost them a spot in the postseason.
Stay tuned for updates, as Grizzlies fans and the entire NBA wait to see if Ja will suit up in the Grizzlies’ next do-or-die battle.
