The Oklahoma City Thunder has officially announced the signing of veteran forward/center Bismack Biyombo, as confirmed by the team’s Executive Vice President and General Manager, Sam Presti. However, the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, in accordance with the team’s policy.
Biyombo, standing at 6-8 and weighing 255 pounds, has played in a total of 829 games, starting in 351 of them. He has averaged 5.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.30 blocks, while playing for various teams throughout his 13-year NBA career. He was initially selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the seventh overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft.
In 2016, Biyombo established a record for the Toronto Raptors during the playoffs by registering 26 rebounds against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was recently waived by the Memphis Grizzlies after playing in 30 games this season, 27 of which he started. During his time with Memphis, he averaged 5.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.10 blocks per game, while playing for an average of 23.9 minutes per game.
With this signing, Biyombo is now joining his sixth team in what has been an eventful NBA career that has spanned over a decade.
