During a recent game in Cleveland between the Atlanta Hawks and the Cavaliers, Trae Young, the talented guard for the Hawks, was forced to leave the court in the fourth quarter after drawing a charge. Following an assessment by his team’s medical staff, it was revealed that he had suffered a concussion due to an inadvertent elbow that hit him in the face. Although he stayed on the court for a brief period, he eventually walked back to the locker room, with the Hawks trailing by a significant margin of 25 points. Unfortunately, he did not return to the game after scoring 15 points, and the Cavaliers emerged victorious with a score of 116-95.
As per the Concussion Policy of the NBA, Young will have to undergo the league’s mandated Return-to-Participation process, which consists of a series of steps that are designed to ensure that the athlete does not exhibit any symptoms before resuming basketball activities. It is important to note that there is no fixed timeline for a player to complete this process, as each injury and player’s recovery time can vary depending on the situation.
Young, who currently averages an impressive 26.9 points and 10.8 assists for the Hawks in the 2023-24 season, will be hoping to recover soon and return to the court.
