The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards $50,000 for an incident involving inappropriate language and an obscene gesture during Game 1 of the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The moment occurred with 4:33 left in the third quarter of Minnesota’s dominant 117-95 win at Crypto.com Arena on April 19. According to the league, Edwards responded to heckling from Lakers fans by making an obscene gesture and allegedly saying, “My d* is bigger than yours,”** directly toward the crowd.

The league’s announcement came via Byron Spruell, President of League Operations, who emphasized that the NBA maintains strict rules about player conduct toward fans, especially during high-stakes playoff matchups.

Edwards had been cooking all night in Game 1, finishing with an electric performance that included poster dunks, isolation highlights, and plenty of energy. But while his game was hot, his mouth may have gone a bit too far for league standards.

Trash talk is nothing new in the NBA playoffs — especially when tensions are high — but the league is cracking down on anything that crosses the line into vulgarity or obscenity, particularly in fan interactions.

Still, fans online seem split: some are criticizing Edwards for his behavior, while others are loving the old-school swagger and fire he brought to L.A. Either way, Edwards and the Wolves are up 1-0 — and the Lakers have more to worry about than his words.

Do you think the fine was fair? Or is Ant just keeping that playoff energy alive? Let us know in the comments below.
