Khris Middleton is running it back.
The three-time NBA All-Star has officially picked up his $33.3 million player option for the 2025–26 season, according to ESPN sources, keeping him in Washington for at least one more year.
It’s a significant decision for both Middleton and the Washington Wizards, who are still in the early stages of a franchise rebuild. Middleton arrived in D.C. via trade last offseason and, despite an up-and-down year marred by minor injuries, he remained a key veteran presence for the young squad.
The 33-year-old averaged 15.9 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds last season, showcasing his signature midrange game and clutch shot-making when healthy. While he’s no longer the All-Star wing who helped the Bucks win the 2021 NBA title, Middleton remains a reliable, high-IQ contributor—especially in late-game situations.
For Washington, the move brings stability and leadership, with Middleton likely serving as a bridge between the current roster and future aspirations. Whether they choose to keep him long-term, trade him later in the season, or let the contract expire, it’s clear Middleton still holds value.
And for Middleton? It’s a smart business move—secure the bag now, then reevaluate next summer when cap space and contender interest could be even higher.
