The Knicks and Sixers faced off in what felt like a mini preview of The FULL Abu Dhabi games, and it didn’t disappoint.
Philadelphia came into Abu Dhabi leaning heavily on Tyrese Maxey, who looked like he hadn’t missed a step. Maxey was aggressive, confident, and finished with 14 points while running the Sixers’ offense. But the real surprise for Philly was rookie VJ Edgecombe, who made his debut and matched Maxey with 14 points of his own. The rookie showed flashes of why the Sixers believe he can be a big part of their future — hitting shots, cutting hard, and defending with energy.

Still, the Knicks’ core was just too much to handle. Karl-Anthony Towns put up 11 points in the paint, Mikal Bridges added 10 with his smooth midrange game, and Jalen Brunson, though limited offensively with just 6 points, kept the team’s offense flowing. The X-factor was Miles McBride, who scored 12 points off the bench and gave New York a spark every time he checked in.
New York’s depth and team balance carried them to a 99-84 win, showing that while Philly has talent, the Knicks have structure and a clear identity.

For the Knicks, it’s another reminder that this core — Brunson, Bridges, KAT, and the supporting cast — has the potential to be one of the best units in the East. For the Sixers, it’s about building around Maxey and seeing how fast VJ Edgecombe can develop. If this game is any sign, Philly has a bright future — but right now, New York is the team that looks ready to contend.
