The NBA recently announced the 2024 NBA All-Star Game reserves, which includes 14 players who were voted on by the league’s coaches. These reserves will join the previously announced starters to complete the rosters for the highly anticipated game.
The Eastern Conference reserves include some notable names such as Bam Adebayo from the Miami Heat, Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics, and Julius Randle from the New York Knicks. Other players include Paolo Banchero from the Orlando Magic, Jalen Brunson from the New York Knicks, Tyrese Maxey from the Philadelphia 76ers, and Donovan Mitchell from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Meanwhile, the Western Conference reserves feature some of the NBA’s biggest stars such as Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns, Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors, Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers, and Kawhi Leonard from the LA Clippers. Other players on the team include Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Paul George from the LA Clippers, and Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
So, how were the NBA All-Star reserves determined? Well, each NBA head coach voted for seven players in his conference with two guards, three frontcourt players, and two additional players at any position. However, the coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their own team.
In case of any player being unable to participate in the All-Star Game, Commissioner Adam Silver will select a replacement player from the same conference as the player who is being replaced.
The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 18, 2024, and All-Star Weekend will encompass three total nights of events from February 16-18, 2024.
The East and West All-Star teams will also play for a good cause. The East will play for Special Olympics Indiana, while the West will play for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis. Each team will start the NBA All-Star Game with $100,000, and the winning team will be awarded an additional $240,000 to donate to the charity of their choosing.
As the league celebrates basketball’s deep roots in the state of Indiana, the 73rd NBA All-Star Game will feature the return of the classic matchup between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. The traditional scoring system with four 12-minute quarters will also return, and the teams will continue to compete to win each quarter for a charitable organization of their choosing.
