Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just had one of the best seasons of his career; it is only right that he gets awarded for his excellence. I am not talking about the MVP for now, because SGA has gotten his hands on yet another, different award to add to his extensive resume.

Moving over to the negatives of SGA’s clutch player of the year win, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has only played a small amount of games and minutes in the clutch, logging around 125 total minutes in the clutch this season, a small sample compared to a full-season impact.
To be completely fair to Shai’;s case, the Thunder have been so dominant this season that it reduced the total amount of clutch opportunities that Shai could have, inflating Shai’s 6.5 Clutch PPG record to seem not impressive.
Although Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has now received a fair amount of playoff experience, regular-season clutchness does not apply to the postseason, with defensive intensity increasing and teams playing more physical, trying to close out games before the clutch even starts.
This is one of the most complete and efficient clutch seasons ever, and the voting reflects that perfectly. The league has come to a worldwide agreement that not only is the Thunder the best team, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the best player.
