In a bold move to shake up their roster, the Chicago Bulls are trading guard Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for wing Isaac Okoro, sources told ESPN.

Ball, who hasn’t played since January 2022 due to a string of knee surgeries, is expected to make a full return this season. The Cavaliers are betting on his upside and playmaking to complement Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, bringing elite court vision and defensive presence — if healthy.

For Chicago, this marks a pivot. By acquiring Okoro, a tough-nosed perimeter defender and improving shooter, the Bulls get younger, more durable, and potentially more versatile on the wing. Okoro fits their current timeline and helps balance a roster in need of two-way players.

Both players are on expiring contracts, but this deal gives each team a fresh start with pieces that better fit their evolving strategies.

This could be the beginning of bigger moves for both front offices as the offseason unfolds.
