The New Orleans Pelicans are adding some serious size and potential to their roster. According to Greer Love, 7-footer Mo Bamba has agreed to a 10-day contract with the team, as first reported by ESPN.

Bamba, known for his length, shot-blocking, and floor-spacing ability, spent this season with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in limited minutes. But what really turned heads was his recent G League dominance — Bamba exploded for 21 points and 15 rebounds per game, showing just how impactful he can be when given extended run.

For the Pelicans, this move brings much-needed depth and versatility to their frontcourt. With Jonas Valančiūnas and Zion Williamson often carrying the load inside, adding a player like Bamba gives New Orleans a unique weapon — a big man who can protect the rim and stretch the floor.

At just 26 years old, Bamba still has plenty of untapped potential. Drafted 6th overall in 2018, he entered the league with high expectations thanks to his 7’10” wingspan and ability to knock down threes. Injuries and inconsistency have slowed his development, but his recent G League numbers suggest he’s ready to make an impact.

This 10-day contract is essentially an audition — a chance for Bamba to prove he belongs on an NBA roster long-term. If he brings that same energy and production to the Pelicans, there’s a real chance they’ll keep him around beyond these 10 days.

For New Orleans, this is a low-risk, high-reward move. And for Mo Bamba? It’s an opportunity to remind the league why he was once considered one of the most promising big men in basketball.
