Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is on the verge of joining an exclusive club of NBA superstars. Only three players, Larry Bird (1984-85), Michael Jordan (1986-87), and James Harden (2018-19), have scored 30+ points against every team in the NBA in a single season, provided there are at least 20 teams in the league. Shai is on the final stetch of joining this elite company, as he only needs to score 30 points against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors. His final chance to achieve this feat will be tonight’s game against the Raptors. Interestingly, the Thunder have yet to play against the Bucks, and that game is scheduled for Sunday.
Shai has been in excellent form lately and has already achieved a significant milestone. He joined the ranks of Michael Jordan (1989-90 and 1990-91), Tracy McGrady (2002-03), Kobe Bryant (2005-06), and James Harden (2018-19) as the only players in the past 35 years to have recorded at least 50 games with 30+ points.
The current scenario in the Western Conference is also quite exciting, with the Timberwolves, Nuggets, and Thunder locked in a three-way tie for the first seed. The Thunder currently have a record of 49-20 and could clinch the top spot in the west. If they do, it would bolster SGA’s MVP candidacy, and it would also be the first time since 2016 that the Thunder led the west in wins.
