Keegan Murray will miss more than a month after suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb during the Kings’ preseason matchup against the Blazers.
The team announced on Sunday that Murray will be reevaluated in 4–6 weeks, leaving Sacramento temporarily without one of their key young pieces.

Entering his fourth NBA season, Murray was expected to take another leap on both ends of the floor after averaging 12.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season. Known for his smooth shooting stroke and developing two-way impact, his absence could open up more minutes for players like DeMar DeRozan and Sasha Vezenkov to step up early in the season.
For a Kings team looking to rise back into the West’s top tier, this injury comes at a bad time — especially with how much they rely on spacing and balance around Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis.
Still, Sacramento remains optimistic. If recovery goes smoothly, Keegan Murray could be back before the end of November, just in time to help stabilize the Kings’ playoff push.
