List’d Review: The New Social Media App Where Everyone Ranks Their Favourites

List’d is one of the newest basketball social media platforms, solving 1 issue in the sports and media space. I am sure that many of you have argued in the comments on topics, getting lost in the endless threads and spam comments. List’d fixes this issue with their core feature, lists.

It has become increasingly more popular amongst sports fans, but they also plan to expand into all sectors such as entertainment, food, travel, music, gaming and much more. In this article, we are going to be breaking down List’d, and disclaimer, this is NOT a paid promotion or sponsorship.

What is List’d and How Does it work?

The core idea of List’d is to rank your favourite things, from sports to music. They are attempting to create a social media platform, purely centred around opinions, rather than just traditional media and view-grabbing posts. Users can rank virtually anything on the platform, from NBA Players to NFL Teams.

Users can create lists, hence the name, and add up to 50 items to the list, as well as add descriptions, notes, and now even images to their lists, being able to edit the lists at anytime. The flexibility in style and sharability to other platforms is one to none, and the potential for the list feature is endless.

In order for the lists to be found, the founder of the app decided to turn it into a true social media platform, adding a for you page for users to find, vote and argue on relevant posts, a trending page with the top posts, a following feed, search by topic of the list and user profiles, just like any platform.

The community can like, repost, save and share all posts, but these features are core features of hundreds of other social media apps. Here are some of the core features that truly put List’d in a league of its own:

Head-to-Head Challenges: Users are able to challenge other users and friends to battles, letting the community decide whose list is better, turning normal lists and debates into a fun, competitive challenge.

Tournaments: Just like the NBA Playoffs, List’d has designed a bracket style compeition, where the community once again decides and votes for winners, allowing the community to get increasingly more involved with user success.

Polls and Rank This: Users can put up image polls with their own opinions, as well as post daily questions for users to answer, while the ” Rank This ” feature allows the community to enter their own prompts and participate instantly, which boosts engagement on the platform.

Groups: Because List’d wants to become the number one platform for all things listing and debating, they decided to add communities, where you can join and debate with other people with similar interests to yours.

Leaderboards and Karma: Just like other social media platforms such as RealApp, Duolingo and Chess.Com, the team at List’d added karma to bring back users, enticing them to collect this karma for badges and join the ranks on the leaderboards, instantly increasing their Daily Active User (DAU) base.

The Founder Behind List’d

List’d founder, like myself, is a young, 18-year-old entrepreneur who built the app entirely independently as a passion project, and not only is extremely active with updates and fixing any issues, but consistently listens to the community’s feedback on their growing fanbase on X, now sitting at around 750 followers.

Aleksander MacIver, the founder of List’d, is constantly updating the platform, adding bigger lists, polls, tournaments, images, badges, themes, better sharing and an improved onboarding all within the last 3 months. This rapid iteration matters so much for early-stage apps, as it gives users a reason to join and talk about it.

List’d biggest strengths include a simple concept to understand, a highly engaging platform and a clean interface with a broard appeal to most interests on the internet, driven purely by the community. Although it has many positives, there are still negatives that must be addressed.

List’d has an extremely small user base, averaging around 100 DAUs. One of the main factors contributing to this is that the app is only available on iOS, and Android users can not join yet.

Not only do they need more advertising and more creators on the platform, but they are also competing with some of the biggest companies in the entire world, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Ranker, and X. All these giants will not go down without a fight, but I believe List’d is up for the task.

Can List’d Become The Next Big Social App?

Although List’d is small now, it is positioned in a unique, untouched, large niche, targeting the ranking-focused creators and consumers of the digital world. This type of content is highly engaging and contains viral potential, which, due to network effects, can lead to the app blowing up overnight.

The app is fun to use, it is easy to use, and it is free, with a great UI and clean design, as well as fast updates and a strong, focused founder, this app has such high potential, but if they do not grow faster and lauch on all platforms and pay for advertising, they might get lost behind the hundreds of other apps that tried.

Overall, I would rate this app a 9.5/10. With the niche being ultra-specific and relatively untouched, this app is made for people who love a good debate and a great commitment, targeting the sports and entertainment sectors.

List’d growth is worth watching in the future, because with a focused founder and a strong idea, their rapid growth in the last few months highlights that early users love the platform, and these same early users can help shape the platform.

Shoutout to the founder of List’d for making this article possible. This was not a paid promotion at all, but I believe in the idea and what he is trying to build. I look forward to interviewing him in a future YouTube video!
