Joel Embiid is still one of the best and most dominant players in all of basketball. Nothing has changed, but what else has not changed since he entered the NBA? The uncertainty and consistent injury concerns have surrounded him since he entered the league.
His Coaches are always monitoring his situation, making sure to never place too much strain on him, or he may break. The one thing the 76ers have done for the last decade, though, is never give up on Joel Embiid; they must just continue to “trust the process”.

What are the Key Factors to Consider In Embiid’s Health?
1. Availability vs Dominance
Joel Embiid, this year, has only played in a measly 38 Games in the regular season, constantly needing rest and injury management from his extensive record of issues sustained throughout the last 5 seasons. He has suffered from knee, oblique, and ankle injuries, as well as an emergency appendectomy surgery just before the playoffs.
2. Embiid’s Immediate Playoff Impact
Joel Embiid has been one of the best players in the world ever since he won his 1st MVP in the 2023 NBA Season. Joel Embiid missed some early games in the 1st round vs the Celtics, but returned quickly midway through the series, flipping the momentum in favour of Philadelphia.
When Embiid returned, he immediately showed what type of impact he had, contributing 28 Points, 9 Rebounds and 7 Assists so far in the playoffs, elite production for a big man returning from an injury. The evidence is there, when he plays, he can still control games.

3. The Pattern That Doesn’t Go Away
Although Joel Embiid is one of the best players in the world, he has never played more than 68 Games, let alone a full season. In the last 3 seasons, Joel Embiid has played in 96 games, only 39% of total games played since the 2023-24 Season.
Embiid has been dealing with recurring knee issues, ankle sprains, back problems and other random injuries since 2016, having an extensive history of playoff injuries. With him back and productive, the 76ers have been playing him on heavy minutes, raising risks and concerns for future issues.
4. The Real Question for Joel Embiid
Can he sustain an elite postseason for multiple rounds? Can Philadelphia manage his injuries without losing all rhythm? Tonight vs the Knicks in the 2nd round, the 76ers looked like the exact team that analysts thought they would be; overachievers in the 1st round, destroyed in the 2nd round.
Embiid, in 25 Minutes, scored 14 Points on 3/11 shooting, a big leap down from the 30 Points we are used to seeing from him. If the 76ers can sustain Joel’s excellence for multiple games and sereies, their is no doubt that the only thing stopping them in the Thunder, who are still my champions.
With Joel Embiid, the formula has been made crystal clear; if he is on the floor, the Philadelphia 76ers become playoff threats, if not, they move into a play-in team. Until Embiid can fully sustain himself for a full season, the 76ers will always be an unsure franchise.
