The LeBron James situation seems to be reaching the final stage. Of course, in classic LeBron fashion, he is holding up the entire NBA, from the executives to even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver himself. In LeBron’s defence, this is an incredibly hard challenge, picking 1 team to spend the rest of his career on, but the time he has spent has left everyone anticipating it.
Adam Silver Is Reportedly “Annoyed” With LeBron
Adam Silver recently in an interview says that he is annoyed by LeBron taking this long, saying: “We have to finish up the schedule and where LeBron plays will affect the schedule. So, I would like him to make his announcement already so we can finish the schedule. As you can imagine, the teams are calling us, the networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule.”
This is not only delaying the release of the official NBA schedule, but also affecting networks and creators around the world, who are getting “antsy”, waiting for LeBron James to sign with a team finally. Thankfully, NBA Insider Shams Charania updated the people, saying that LeBron’s decision is coming soon, with the end being near.
This report by Shams Charania was reassuring, but overall did not truly provide us with any new details. We know that James is signing soon, and as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said, there have been no new updates, but he subsequently reported that a trusted source of his said James has signed with a non-Cleveland team.
Everyone, from Insiders to Friends, is in the dark, and while LeBron James is relaxing, taking a well-deserved vacation with his friends and family, playing golf and chilling, the entire basketball world is in absolute anarchy, with hundreds of fake, clickbaity reports and updates surfacing daily.
Some of these “fake” reports are actually just other interviews and reports taken out of context, or taken straight out of an article, meaning people do not know the entire story or situation. This not only leaves people completely confused but also creates a sense of confusion between unrealistic reports and genuine news.
Regardless, LeBron James will play in his record-breaking 24th season, saying that he still wants to play meaningful and effective basketball, something that LeBron has done throughout his career and has mastered, even through sluggish nights and cold streaks.
James, who turns 42 years old in December, is still an elite basketball player, being able to turn the tides for any team willing to take on an aging superstar, who could very well retire by the end of the season, but for most teams, such as the Warriors and Heat, the upside is simply too great.
Coincidentally, almost all of the teams that are in the race to acquire LeBron James have pretty low draft capital, with picks ranging from 3-7 first-round picks in the next 5 years. The thing is, none of these teams is good enough to win a championship, but they are good enough to make the playoffs, rendering the picks useless, especially with new tanking rules in place.
Maybe signing James has become a win-now move for some of these teams, or maybe they want the publicity and fandom that comes with signing LeBron James, who knows, but one thing is for sure, never count out LeBron James, because when he has his eyes set on something, he always achieves his goals.
