Unfortunately, the highly anticipated guard for the Toronto Raptors Rookie, Ja’Kobe Walter, will miss out on participating in his first NBA training camp due to a sprained right shoulder, as announced by the team on Friday. The 6-foot-4 Walter was selected by the Raptors with the 19th pick in the first round of the June NBA Draft. It’s unfortunate that the injury occurred during informal workouts earlier this week. The team has assured that they will provide an update on Walter’s condition following next week’s training camp in Montreal.
Ja’Kobe Walter, who was Baylor’s top scorer in his sole season with the Bears, also earned the title of Big 12 Freshman of the Year after maintaining an impressive average of 14.5 points and 4.4 rebounds. Having just turned 20 in early September, the young talent has shown great promise. It’s worth noting that Toronto struggled last season, finishing with a record of 25-57 and missing out on the Play-In Tournament. The Raptors Rookie could help out the team a huge amount along with other rookies like Grady Dick and Scottie Barnes.
