The Memphis Grizzlies are making serious draft-night moves — and Cedric Coward is their guy.
Per Shams Charania, Memphis has acquired the No. 11 pick from the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal centered around Cedric Coward, a two-way wing rising fast on draft boards. In exchange, the Grizzlies are sending Portland:
- No. 16 pick
- A 2028 first-rounder via Orlando
- Two second-round picks
This aggressive move signals the Grizzlies’ confidence in Coward’s upside. Known for his versatility, athleticism, and high motor on both ends of the floor, Coward gives Memphis another long-term building block alongside Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane.
For Portland, the trade adds valuable draft capital and flexibility. The 2028 Orlando pick could be extremely valuable if the Magic regress, and with a young roster already in place, the Blazers continue stockpiling assets while still picking at No. 16.
With Coward in the mix, Memphis keeps building a gritty, competitive squad built for the long haul.
